One of the most beautiful villages in Italy lies right in the middle between the two big towns and only 120 kilometers from each.
Just a day trip from Rome or Naples.
It is very easy to make a little detour along the coast, slow down for a while, make a food and wine experience or take a baking class, visit local farms, enjoy breathtaking views and a crystal clear sea.
Venice, Florence, Rome (here’s a very good guide in Rome), Naples are italian big amazing cities, full of wonderful things to do and see. But life as a tourist in Italy can be really exhausting!
That’s why you should include a little break on your trip.
Plan your day trip from Rome!
You can visit Sperlonga all year round. Every season has its own charme: the village lives solitary winters and busy summers.
Summer can be very hot, as well as in Rome, but you can always cool down in the sea, in the shadow of a cork forest, or in the vineyards. In July and August, actually, when italians have their holidays, Sperlonga is really crowded. This is however the perfect season to enjoy beach and sea activities.
Winter is never so cold. Sometimes happens that you wear a t-shirt even in December or January if the midday sun is shining. During this season there’s little tourism in Sperlonga and parkings are free. You would definitely appreciate the silence of the white alleys over the blue sea and enjoy all the beauty of a winter seaside tiny village without any trouble.
The best time to visit Sperlonga however is the mid-season.
With good chance you’ll find good weather and nice temperatures, even go to the beach from april till november. And no crowd!
Sperlonga is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. You can visit the old town, the villa of the Emperor Tiberius and enjoy a swim in a wonderful sea. Likewise the Costiera Amalfitana it has both mountains and sea, it’s rich in history and old local traditions.
But don’t miss tastings: there’s a very high local quality food and wines.
